Training Courses
| Coastguard provides a wide range of training for boat skippers, enthusiasts or crew to ensure they are competent to achieve maximum possible safety at sea. A range of Standard Courses is provided by Coastguard Boating Education Services, a unit of Coastguard New Zealand, who set course curriculi, provide training materials and train instructors to enable Coastguard Units nation wide to provide basic marine training to Boating Enthusiasts. Many courses are taught locally, are extremely practical and are geared to knowing the basics. | ||||

The above courses are available through Gisborne Coastguard on an "As Required" basis. Contact the Secretary or call the Rescue Centre during the Summer season to arrange to attend. |

Training for all volunteers is to a national NZQA standard, with skippers having to attain a professional skipper's ticket to command a rescue boat. Rescue Crew training is conducted regularly on the first and third Monday nights of the month. |
