Coastguard provides a wide range of training for boat skippers, enthusiasts or crew to ensure they are competent to achieve maximum possible safety at sea. Courses are extremely practical and are geared to knowing the basics. They include: | ||||||

The above courses are available through Gisborne Coastguard on an "As Required" basis. Click to check scheduled courses. Contact the Secretary or call the Rescue Centre during the Summer season to arrange to attend. |

Training for all volunteers is to a national NZQA standard, with skippers having to attain a professional skipper's ticket to command a rescue boat. Rescue Crew training is conducted regularly on the first and third Monday nights of the month. |
